Position Title: Assistant Program Director
Reports To: Program Director
Position Summary:
The Assistant Program Director plays a pivotal role in guiding the team alongside the Program Director. This position involves assisting in the oversight of staff management, training initiatives, and recruitment processes. The APD is committed to ensuring that all program activities are executed with integrity and professionalism, reflecting the core values of Resources for Human Development.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Staff Oversight:
- Manage Site Supervisors, Program Specialists, Medical Staff, and Direct Support Professionals, ensuring effective daily operations and adherence to consumer plans and documentation standards.
- Collaborate with the Fiscal Administrator or Office Manager to oversee the recruitment process, including scheduling interviews and participating in candidate evaluations. Facilitate the onboarding and orientation of new hires as needed.
- Assist the management team with documentation related to supervision, including implementing progressive discipline when necessary.
Quality Assurance:
- Conduct reviews of site documentation in preparation for both internal and external audits.
Financial and Operational Support:
- Support the Unit Director in maintaining compliance with licensing, funding, and budgetary requirements.
- Provide crisis intervention and support for individuals and staff during challenging situations.
- Foster an empowering environment for individuals by promoting skill development and coordinating access to resources and supportive services.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, human services, or a related field from an accredited institution is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in mental health/IDD direct service and at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Alternatively, a High School diploma with 7 years of experience in mental health/IDD direct service and 2 years of supervisory experience is acceptable.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Must possess a valid Driver's License and have access to a personal vehicle.
- Subject to employment screenings, including FBI clearance if applicable.
Working Environment:
- Primarily office-based, with occasional visits to program sites as required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, and move about while performing job duties.
- Proficient in using a computer monitor and keyboard for data entry and report generation.
- Utilization of standard office equipment, including copiers and telephones.
Lifting Requirements:
- Medium: ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
Reporting Structure:
- Direct Supervisor: Program Director
- Direct Reports: Site Supervisors, Program Specialists, Medical Staff
- Collaborative Support: Clinical Staff, Behavior Specialists, Administrative Staff
