Position Overview:
The Academic Advisor is integral to fostering student achievement and retention within the academic environment. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities aimed at supporting students throughout their educational journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Success to establish and promote student retention and success objectives for targeted groups.
- Implement initiatives designed to enhance student success.
- Monitor and evaluate student retention rates and other key performance indicators as required.
- Provide academic guidance and support to designated student populations, including those nearing graduation, developmental learners, and student-athletes.
- Develop resources and tools to aid in academic success and advising.
- Conduct workshops and presentations to facilitate student engagement and success.
- Assist students in navigating the academic landscape and formulating realistic academic plans.
- Ensure students maintain satisfactory academic progress by informing them of relevant policies and available resources.
- Foster positive relationships with faculty and staff to guarantee students receive accurate information.
- Refer students to appropriate campus services for additional support as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree is mandatory. Candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills, excellent written communication abilities, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students. Proficiency in computer applications and availability for evening and weekend work is essential.
Preferred Qualifications: A master's degree accompanied by two years of relevant experience is preferred.
Salary Information:
Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience.
