Position Summary:

Caterpillar is in search of a Lead IT Infrastructure Specialist who will consult and spearhead initiatives addressing a variety of technology-related challenges for both internal and external stakeholders, all while adhering to established standards and protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on client needs and propose technological solutions and business cases; assist in assessing, selecting, and utilizing both new and existing tools and methodologies.
  • Deliver expert knowledge and solutions on extensive technology challenges for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee the design, testing, and implementation of technical projects in collaboration with senior IT personnel.
  • Ensure that the design and deployment of technologies align with existing standards and protocols.
  • Provide ongoing Level 3 support to Level 1 and Level 2 analysts to swiftly resolve business-critical incidents and service requests.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in RedHat OpenShift, container technologies, Apache, Tomcat, WebSphere, Introscope, and Linux operating systems; capable of developing solutions to complex technical issues.
  • Experience with Red Hat OpenShift product Version 4.x.
  • Familiarity with container technologies, OpenShift Container Platform, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience in building Podman images with knowledge of Tomcat and Apache.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Linux operating system.
  • Experience in securing Cloud Formation/Terraform Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Skilled in measuring and securing Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) environments in AWS and Azure.
  • Proficient in Python, YAML, and JSON.
  • Understanding of the AWS Well-Architected Framework and various cloud service provider-native security tools such as Service Control Policies, CloudWatch, Control Tower, or Azure Security Center.
  • Experience in monitoring container platforms and alerts for resource availability, such as Introscope.
  • Familiarity with WebSphere.
  • Experience collaborating across teams to streamline and simplify DevOps tools and services.
  • An accredited four-year degree in Information Technology or a closely related technical field, or six years of equivalent work experience with an Associate's Degree preferred.
