Job Description

Millennium Physicians Association is seeking an experienced Authorization Specialist to join our team. As an Authorization Specialist, you will be responsible for obtaining insurance verifications and approvals for imaging procedures at our busy multispecialty medical organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify eligibility and medical benefits with third-party payers for scheduled ancillary services, including CT scans, PET scans, MRI scans, and other diagnostic testing.
  • Obtain prior authorizations, pre-determinations, or any prerequisites prior to services being rendered.
  • Ensure patients meet all criteria outlined by third-party payer reimbursement policies and clinical policies.
  • Document detailed eligibility and benefit details in the patient's electronic chart.
  • Price scans and imaging testing to calculate patient responsibility.
  • Generate patient financial treatment estimates and counsel patients prior to scheduled exams.
  • Identify patients in need of financial assistance and submit to the financial assistance department for evaluation.
  • Document all patient financial counseling activities and interactions in the patient's electronic chart.
  • Communicate with scheduling personnel and ordering physicians and staff regarding delays in the financial counseling process.
  • Counsel, educate, and assist patients with inquiries regarding their financial responsibility, assistance availability, insurance, and benefits.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience as an insurance specialist in the healthcare environment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Billing and coding knowledge preferred.
