Job Title: Lead Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Systems Engineer to join our team at Aleron. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the planning, integration, and validation of complex software systems.

Job Summary:

The Lead Systems Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Leading the team in the planning, integrating, and validating of software systems
  • Designing, building, and maintaining development and deployment hosting infrastructure
  • Providing technical leadership, mentoring, and direction to the team
  • Identifying and hiring personnel resources needed
  • Coordinating and monitoring team tasks and software deliveries
  • Managing and mitigating risks
  • Aggregating and moderating team inputs to weekly and monthly program status reports
  • Leading the team to build, secure, and monitor networked open virtualization host environments and DevOps processes
  • Participating in program technical leadership meetings to review plans, monitor execution, and adjudicate program issues
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum 8 years of software experience with both networking hardware and software
  • Minimum 8 years of experience as a Lead SE or Chief Engineer on a complex software system
  • Minimum 8 years of experience with public, private, and mixed cloud environments
  • Minimum 8 years of experience with cybersecurity practices such as encryption, certificate/key management, patch management, STIG, RMF, or security hardening, and auditing
  • Minimum 8 years of experience with DevOps concepts and practices
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in working with Navy theater sites or labs, Surface or Undersea, or USW-DSS systems
Preferred Skills:

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering or a related field
  • Experience with Platform as a Service (PaaS) technologies such as Identity and Access Management, Kubernetes, Rancher, Docker, or OpenShift
  • Knowledge of USW-DSS products, interfacing systems, and installations
  • Familiarity with CANES networks
  • Mindset of continuous improvement and ability to adapt and innovate on the current product to remain effective, useful, and competitive
