Patient Care Assistant

The Nursing Assistant (NA) plays a crucial role in delivering essential patient care within the Veterans Health Administration. This position involves direct interaction with patients, providing support in various daily activities to enhance their comfort and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
The NA is responsible for a wide range of personal care tasks, including but not limited to:
- Assisting patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and feeding.
- Monitoring and recording vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
- Transporting patients safely within the facility.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization in patient care areas.
- Supporting nursing staff in implementing care plans and treatments.
- Engaging with patients and their families to provide updates and support.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with relevant training or experience in a healthcare setting. Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is essential.
Work Environment
This position requires flexibility in scheduling, including the possibility of weekend and holiday shifts. The NA will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care for all patients.
Physical Requirements
The role necessitates physical stamina, including the ability to lift and move patients, as well as the capacity to respond to emergencies effectively. Adherence to safety protocols and maintaining patient confidentiality are paramount.
