Job Overview

Catholic Community Services is seeking an experienced African American Elders Program Director II to lead our team in providing high-quality services to isolated, frail, and low-income African-American elders in King County.

About the Role

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary range of $71,600 - $79,700 annually, depending on experience. The successful candidate will be responsible for actualizing the mission of the African-American Elders Program, improving the quality of life of isolated, frail, and low-income African-American elders in King County.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Create and nurture effective partnerships with community resources that benefit frail African-Americans or their families.
  2. Identify community resources such as churches, community centers, programs specifically aimed at African-Americans, professional groups, clubs, and medical resources.
  3. Establish working relationships with the resources that may include but not be limited to offering training, information, and access.
  4. Offers training to key staff in the community resources in how to identify frail elders in need and how to access services.
  5. Provides informational activities that may include workshops, fairs, flyers, etc. to the community resources either as a whole or individually.
  6. Works in conjunction with other programs within the aging network.
  7. Create effective partnerships with programs that offer social, medical, or mental health services to frail elders, to ensure culturally relevant services are provided.
  8. Identifies agencies that offer services to frail elders.
  9. Establishes working relationships with the agencies to include a standard Memorandum Of Understanding.
  10. Offers training on how to be a culturally relevant provider.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Business Administration, Political Science or a closely related field with a minimum of five years of management experience.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in the field of geriatrics.
  • Preferred: Master's Degree in Social Work or Nursing and experience working in a social services program that services African-Americans.
  • A passion for and experience working with an aging population.
  • Success in a governmental or non-profit organization with a proven track record of achieving results in program development.
  • Understand the principles of social service programs and administration.
  • Advanced knowledge of public health and geriatric issues of older adults.
  • Federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations governing client care.
  • Case worker objectives, principles and methods.
  • Principles and practices of employee supervising and staff development.
  • Working skills in Microsoft Suite, Adobe, and database management/reporting systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work within systems.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or independently.
  • Previous work history in senior services.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse workforce, to include knowledge of culturally relevant services to African-Americans.
  • Car with valid Driver's License and automobile insurance.
