Position Overview:
The Public Health Nutritionist plays a crucial role within the Florida Department of Health, focusing on enhancing the nutritional well-being of Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) clients. This position is integral to fostering teamwork and collaboration in a diverse workplace environment.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive nutrition evaluations for WIC clients, identifying individual needs and risks. Develop personalized nutrition care plans, utilizing standardized assessment methods and educational resources to support clients in achieving their health goals.
2. Maintain accurate records of client interactions in the designated health information systems, ensuring compliance with established guidelines. Assign appropriate food packages based on client assessments and manage future appointments effectively.
3. Serve as the Breastfeeding Coordinator, providing essential support and guidance to mothers during prenatal and postpartum stages. Organize training sessions for staff and promote breastfeeding initiatives within the clinic.
4. Facilitate nutrition education programs for clients, making referrals to additional health services and community resources as necessary.

Essential Qualifications:
- A thorough understanding of nutrition science and current dietary practices.
- Proficiency in assessing nutritional needs and compiling relevant data.
- Competence in utilizing Microsoft Office applications and navigating health information systems.
- Strong communication skills, capable of engaging diverse audiences effectively.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with care.

Preferred Credentials:
- A valid Florida Driver License or the ability to obtain one.
- A bachelor's or master's degree in Nutrition Sciences, Dietetics, or a related field.
- A valid Florida Dietitian/Nutritionist License or the ability to acquire one.
