Position Summary:
Within the Slomka Lab, the Clinical Research Associate I is primarily responsible for coordinating and assisting in the execution of research study activities, along with other tasks that directly support various projects and programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage research data for NIH-sponsored cardiac imaging registry.
- Utilize Excel for data manipulation and extract features from image data using specialized analysis software.
- Conduct data extraction from medical records and input clinical research data.
- Maintain comprehensive study documentation and assist in result reporting.
The CRA I collaborates closely with a Clinical Research Coordinator, Research Program Administrator, or Research Nurse to facilitate and/or implement the study. This position involves evaluating and abstracting research data while ensuring adherence to protocols and research goals. Responsibilities include completing case report forms and entering clinical research data, with limited patient interaction as required for the study, as well as assisting with study budgets and patient research billing.
This role adheres to all federal, local, FDA, IRB, and HIPAA regulations relevant to the study and patient care.
Primary Duties:
- Schedule patients for research visits and procedures.
- Input clinical research data into Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems provided by sponsors.
- Provide supervised patient contact or follow-up for long-term patients only.
- Assist with regulatory submissions to the Institutional Review Board (IRB), including the submission of Adverse Events, Serious Adverse Events, and Safety Letters in compliance with local and federal guidelines.
- Support clinical trial budgets and patient research billing.
- Prepare and ship samples and maintain study supplies and kits.
- Uphold research practices in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
- Ensure strict patient confidentiality following HIPAA regulations and applicable laws.
- Participate in mandatory training and educational programs.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Sociology, or a related field preferred.
Experience and Skills:
- Familiarity with general research objectives.
- Previous experience in a clinical research environment is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform moderate lifting.
- Capable of sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods.
- Proficient in reading documents both in print and online.
- Competent in operating standard office equipment.
- Must possess the physical ability and visual acuity to effectively perform essential job functions.
