The Lung Institute is dedicated to exploring various pulmonary conditions to uncover underlying causes and assess how regenerative therapies can enhance patient health. Our team delivers thorough inpatient and outpatient services for ailments affecting the esophagus, chest, lungs, and airways. The Lung Institute Biobank at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center gathers a diverse array of respiratory and non-respiratory biological specimens from patients to support high-caliber basic and translational research.
As a Research Associate I, you will collaborate closely with a Clinical Research Coordinator, Research Program Administrator, Research Nurse, or Principal Investigator to facilitate and/or execute the study. This position involves evaluating and abstracting research data while ensuring adherence to protocols and research goals. Responsibilities include completing case report forms (CRFs), entering clinical research data, and aiding in regulatory submissions to the Institutional Review Board (IRB). The Research Associate I may have limited interaction with research participants as necessary for the study and will assist with study budgeting and participant billing. This role adheres to all federal, local, FDA, IRB, and HIPAA regulations related to the study and patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Completes Case Report Forms (CRFs).
- Inputs clinical research data into Electronic Data Systems (EDCs) provided by sponsors.
- Facilitates supervised patient interactions or contacts for long-term follow-up patients only.
- Assists with regulatory submissions to the Institutional Review Board (IRB), including the submission of Adverse Events, Serious Adverse Events, and Safety Letters in compliance with local and federal guidelines.
- Supports clinical trial budgeting.
- Aids in patient research billing.
- Schedules patients for research visits and procedures.
- Responsible for sample preparation, shipping, and maintaining study supplies and kits.
- Ensures compliance with all federal and local agencies, including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and local Institutional Review Board.
- Maintains research practices in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
- Upholds strict patient confidentiality in line with HIPAA regulations and applicable laws.
- Participates in mandatory training and educational programs.
- Coordinates bio-specimen requests from research investigators.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Sociology, or a related field is preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
- ACRP/SoCRA (or equivalent) certification is preferred.
Experience:
- Preferred experience includes one year in clinical research or coordinating clinical research trials.
