Job Overview

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable professional to enhance our engineering team. This role is pivotal in supporting our inspection initiatives, collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure the integrity of bridge structures across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support bridge inspection teams during field evaluations conducted at various access points, including ground level and elevated platforms.
  • Implement National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) and Specifications for the National Bridge Inventory (SNBI) to assess a diverse range of structures, such as girders, culverts, and retaining walls.
  • Evaluate the relevance of previous NBIS ratings and condition states based on current assessments and updated SNBI criteria.
  • Conduct analysis, design, and support for a variety of bridge types, tunnels, and other infrastructure enhancements.
  • Perform thorough visual and hands-on inspections of bridge components, documenting conditions, findings, and deficiencies meticulously.
  • Update inspection notes with relevant details, including team members, environmental conditions, and any limitations encountered during inspections.
  • Capture and document deficiencies with clear photographs for reporting purposes.
  • Utilize web-based reporting systems to maintain accurate inspection schedules and findings.
  • Develop comprehensive testing plans and reports to fulfill project specifications.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications for Success:

  • In-depth knowledge of structural analysis and design principles for both conventional and complex bridge systems.
  • Exceptional technical writing, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience with material properties and deterioration processes of concrete and steel.
  • Proficiency in preparing bridge packages for DOT and local agencies.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools and their appropriate usage.
  • Comfortable working at significant heights and in varying weather conditions.

Educational and Professional Requirements:

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in engineering is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in field engineering or construction, with a preference for bridge inspection experience.
  • NHI Bridge Inspection Certification is mandatory.
  • SPRAT L1 Certification or willingness to obtain within six months of employment.
  • Availability for travel and fieldwork as required.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000 annually
