About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Catastrophe Risk Analyst Intern to join our team at Howden Re. As a key member of our Modeling and Analytics team, you will play a crucial role in facilitating catastrophe reinsurance placements and developing innovative solutions for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with senior catastrophe modelers on analysis projects, applying business analytics, ML/AI, and data visualization techniques to tackle complex problems.
  • Gather, organize, and review data relevant to catastrophe model validation, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Perform data analysis to extract relevant datasets for calculating client risk exposure, providing valuable insights for our clients.
  • Assist senior R&D team members in preparing and formatting summaries, presentations, and reports to convey potential risk and loss results.
  • Research and summarize industry publications and scientific papers on specific or regional perils to provide additional sources of information for analyses and client reports.
Requirements
  • Pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Meteorology, or a similar analytical/science major.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • High achieving academic record in program major and relevant work experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a keen attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US.
