Overview:

The Junior Financial Analyst will utilize accounting standards and methodologies to evaluate financial data, generate precise and timely financial reports and statements, and uphold proper accounting control measures.

The Junior Financial Analyst will deliver comprehensive accounting services; guarantee that all financial information is recorded accurately and punctually in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Statutory Accounting Standards as established by the NAIC, and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage cash posting and daily accounts receivable tasks, along with associated reconciliations.
  • Calculate and prepare funding requests and journal entries for commissions and related items as necessary and within designated timelines.
  • Investigate and resolve commission-related inquiries and other client issues within an agreed timeframe, striving to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Facilitate the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing of the general ledger for assigned entities.
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations, including recurring entries for month-end close, consulting with the Senior Manager regarding materiality decisions on close entries.
  • Maintain well-organized documentation for journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • As part of the reconciliation process, assess the reasonableness of balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure all necessary entries are recorded.
  • Calculate and prepare funding requests and journal entries for timely payment of commissions and related items.
  • Calculate and reconcile premium tax for designated states.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual compliance forms for state regulations.
  • Assist in compiling ancillary audit schedules, audit footnotes, tax schedules, and tax forms.
  • Coordinate and communicate actions among affiliated companies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned and may participate in or support project and process enhancement teams.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and leadership to leverage knowledge and experience to enhance processes, procedures, and the work environment, aiming to eliminate inefficiencies.

Carry out responsibilities in alignment with the Company's Code of Business Conduct, organizational policies, and applicable federal and state regulations.


Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not entail supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience:


A Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited institution is preferred, along with 3 years of relevant experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in insurance accounting is advantageous. Technical Proficiency – Applies current knowledge and skills essential for the role. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other required PC applications is necessary.

CERTIFICATIONS:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license is preferred - either active or in progress.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required daily to analyze and interpret data, communicate effectively, and remain stationary for significant portions of the workday; frequently accessing, inputting, and retrieving information from computers and other office devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and corporate campus and may occasionally need to travel to other sites for business purposes. The employee must frequently lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

While the job is typically performed in an office setting, the employee may occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, areas with moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the office environment is generally quiet, but the employee may occasionally encounter loud noise levels.

Minimal travel is required for this position (up to 10% of the time and on a domestic basis).
