Job Summary

As the Aquatics Director, you will be responsible for maintaining safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. You will create a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have certifications in CPR/AED and First Aid, as well as a current YMCA Lifeguard or American Red Cross Lifeguard certification. A minimum of five years of swim lesson instruction experience is required, along with working computer knowledge and excellent communication skills.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate physical and mental readiness, as well as complete required trainings. They will also be able to meet strength and lifting requirements, hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, and see and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Recruit, hire, train, and lead lifeguard and aquatic instructors.
  2. Supervise and schedule all staff and volunteers in assigned departments.
  3. Administer budgets for all assigned departments.
  4. Maintain the highest safety standards in every aspect of aquatic operations.
  5. Work closely with the Branch Director and management staff to ensure effective communication and operations of all programs.
  6. Develop and maintain programs and scheduled member swim sessions year-round at assigned sites.
  7. Adhere to policies and procedures established by the management staff and CYEDC Board of Directors.
  8. Attend clinics, workshops, trainings, and meetings as required.
  9. Maintain accurate records for all programs.
  10. Know, understand, and consistently apply safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
  11. Perform safety and program equipment checks and ensure equipment is available as needed.
  12. Convey information on aquatics programs and schedules and refer students and parents to other programs as appropriate.
  13. Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
