Cedars-Sinai is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate I to join the Gulati Laboratory in the Center for Neural Science & Medicine.
The successful candidate will assist in general laboratory activities, including maintenance of reagents and stocking of supplies. They will also perform a variety of routine laboratory tasks and procedures, such as rodent surgeries, electrophysiological and behavioral recordings, and perfusion and histology for tissue staining.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of general research objectives and working knowledge of database management, personal computers, and presentation and imaging software. Prior experience in a systems neuroscience lab is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in laboratory activities, including maintenance of reagents and stocking of supplies.
- Perform routine laboratory tasks and procedures, such as rodent surgeries and electrophysiological and behavioral recordings.
- Conduct perfusion and histology for tissue staining.
- Assist with electrophysiology analysis, such as spike sorting and behavioral kinematic analysis.
- Serve as controlled substance (CS) designee for the lab and work with Comparative Medicine (CM) to maintain CS inventory logs.
Requirements:
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience, Bioengineering or related field.
- Strong understanding of general research objectives.
- Working knowledge of database management, personal computers, and presentation and imaging software.
- Prior experience in a systems neuroscience lab is highly desirable.
