Position Overview:

The Senior Inspector will oversee the mechanical integrity of fixed equipment within designated areas. This role demands adherence to established procedures, standards, and jurisdictional regulations to ensure compliance and operational safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor daily inspection tasks through SAP to confirm timely completion of work plans.
  • Initiate all necessary inspections for internal, external, and corrosion monitoring of equipment by their due dates, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Inspections will cover various equipment types, including heaters, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, boilers, and piping.
  • Coordinate inspection efforts within assigned areas and communicate any issues to the Inspection Superintendent and relevant team members.
  • Evaluate repair and engineering scopes for work in the area. Develop and approve Inspection and Test Plans and Piping System Inspection and Repair (PSIR) forms as necessary.
  • Review completed designs and quality documentation post-repair or replacement to ensure compliance with technical and quality standards.
  • Document findings in the Inspection Data Management System as required.
  • Participate in Complex team meetings, providing insights and support based on inspection findings, particularly when failures or near-failures are identified.
  • Assess results from internal and external visual inspections to address any concerns appropriately.
  • Complete management of change (MOC) documentation as necessary.
  • Finalize and sign off on Leak Repair Forms and associated MOCs as required.
  • Witness hydrostatic pressure tests conducted in support of repairs or modifications.
  • Conduct and document routine external visual inspections, including those for pressure vessels, process piping, and relief devices.
  • Perform and accurately document scheduled internal visual inspections.
  • Initiate Inspection Work Requests (IWRs) with findings and recommended actions in the Inspection Data Management System and SAP, ensuring closure with appropriate comments.
  • Carry out internal and external inspections during turnarounds or process unit outages.
  • Regularly review all open IWRs and discuss them with the Complex Team.
  • Conduct Level 1 Fit for Service evaluations in accordance with API standards.
  • Collaborate with the Reliability Engineer to provide necessary information for Fitness for Service evaluations.
  • Perform periodic walkthroughs in assigned units to maintain familiarity with equipment conditions and identify any changes.
  • Be prepared to work overtime and cover various shifts as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • API 510/570 certification is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as a fixed equipment inspector is required, with refinery experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes, including ASME Section VIII, B31.3, API 510, API 570, API 653, and API 580/581 is preferred.
  • Prior experience with SAP is advantageous.
