Job Overview

The Back of House Operations Supervisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of our kitchen at CRAVE American Kitchen & Sushi Bar. This position is essential for maintaining high standards of food quality and service excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage staff scheduling to optimize labor costs.
  • Assess food and supply requirements using production systems to control costs effectively.
  • Ensure timely availability of ingredients and supplies for meal preparation.
  • Continuously mentor and inspire kitchen staff in a positive environment.
  • Facilitate the introduction of new menu items in collaboration with the corporate executive chef.
  • Plan food production to align with serving times, ensuring quality, temperature, and presentation are upheld.
  • Oversee the preparation of all food items, adhering to standard recipes and dietary requirements within set timeframes.
  • Supervise portion control for food service.
  • Properly store and handle raw and prepared foods, ensuring accurate labeling.
  • Maintain compliance with local health department regulations in food handling.
  • Implement proper food handling techniques to minimize waste and costs.
  • Report equipment maintenance needs and coordinate repairs as necessary.
  • Act as a liaison for staff-related issues, communicating with Human Resources as needed.
  • Adhere to all uniform, grooming, safety, and sanitation protocols.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Possession of ServeSafe Certification & Food Handlers Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
  • Proficient in computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Basic mathematical proficiency.
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Experience in supervising and motivating team members, demonstrating effective leadership practices.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, planning, organizational, and creative skills; eager to contribute innovative ideas.
  • Effective time management and task prioritization skills.
  • Capability to delegate tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated good judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks while maintaining focus amid interruptions.
  • Commitment to high standards of personal integrity and ethical conduct.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment, including ovens, stoves, dishwashers, slicers, steamers, mixers, and knives.
