As a Level 1 Licensing Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children and their families by conducting home visits, gathering information, and assessing the suitability of potential foster homes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough home visits and interviews with household members to assess the home and family's ability to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children.
  • Complete background checks on all household members and ensure compliance with licensing requirements.
  • Prepare and submit licensing packets for prospective foster homes in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all required training and paperwork are completed by the family.
  • Analyze information gathered to make an informed assessment of the risk in the home and document findings for presentation to supervisors and the Department of Children and Families.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field with three years' experience in child welfare or human services.
  • Child Welfare Certification preferred but not required at time of hire; must obtain and maintain certification within one year of employment.
  • Must maintain a clear criminal background and driving record.
  • Must have a valid Florida driver's license and be insurable by the agency's current insurance carrier.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must successfully clear a Level II Background Screen.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to work in an office environment and visit other settings such as client homes, courts, and other agencies. The noise level is usually moderate.

The employee will be required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must also frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee is regularly required to bend, stoop, and kneel. Repetitive motion is also required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
