Job Summary

As an Estimating Specialist at Select Industries Corp, you will play a critical role in providing accurate and competitive manufacturing quotes to customers, driving sales growth and reducing quoting response times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the technical representative for assigned quoting processes, ensuring seamless communication with sales and purchasing teams.
  • Make independent and collaborative decisions to deliver accurate estimates for internal and external processes, leveraging expertise in complex machining and process engineering.
  • Conduct brainstorming sessions with engineering personnel to identify low-cost solutions for raw materials, special subcontracted processes, and internal manufacturing processes.
  • Identify and generate RFQs for materials and subcontracted special processes, aligning with current buying practices and company standards.
  • Develop estimated manufacturing processes, considering knowledge of manufacturing processes within the company and its supply base.
  • Maintain a tracking system for open quotes, ensuring timely delivery of quotes between sales and purchasing departments.
  • Input data into the quote module for documenting material costs, subcontract costs, manufacturing operations, tooling, and notes.
  • Forward RFQ activity for materials and subcontract requirements through the purchasing group, interfacing with suppliers and vendors as needed.
  • Maximize opportunities on quote packages by combining and grouping requirements to achieve lower quoted costs.
  • Identify and request engineering data (drawings, specs, parts lists, etc.) to support quote activity, adhering to existing procedures and management direction.
  • Evaluate existing procedures for potential streamlining of quote activities and waste reduction, implementing improvements as needed.
  • Support sales in a technical capacity during price negotiations with customers, developing processes and tooling requirements for government SARS packages.
  • Coordinate, buy-in, and acceptance of processes with manufacturing engineering before submittal to sales for final pricing.
Requirements
  • 8 years of experience in complex machining processing or process engineering for complex aerospace sheet metal and machined components, plus 2 years of advanced education or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with experience working independently.
  • Working knowledge of Windows applications (Word, Excel, and Project), and basic keyboarding ability.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with exposure to the production floor.
