Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Seafood Order Writer to join our team at Whole Foods Market. As a key member of our seafood department, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate ordering of seafood products, maintaining inventory levels, and providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Replenish seafood products through proper buying procedures, ensuring optimal inventory levels and minimizing waste.
  • Order seafood products and maintain accurate records of purchases and credits.
  • Monitor and act upon open PO reports, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of products.
  • Control spoilage and shrink, achieving turn goals and participating in inventory management.
  • Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Ensure orders for product are timely and accurate, monitoring inventory turns and maintaining a clean and sanitary working environment.
  • Oversee customer special order procedure, providing excellent customer service and addressing customer needs in a timely and effective manner.
  • Analyze and control product transfers, waste, and spoilage, maintaining financial profitability and meeting purchasing and sales targets.
  • Separate, scan, and dispose of spoilage/shrink, maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed, and ready to work, working all scheduled shifts and attending required trainings and meetings.
  • Provide excellent customer service, answering phones and pages promptly and courteously, and modeling suggestive selling techniques.
  • Maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product.
  • Follow and comply with established procedures, including weights and measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment, ensuring equipment is in accordance with WFM cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned, ensuring accuracy of signs and pricing.
  • Immediately report safety hazards and violations, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
Requirements
  • Comprehensive knowledge of seafood products and working knowledge of seafood merchandising expectations.
  • Ability to educate team on product knowledge and convey enthusiasm, with strong basic math skills and knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ordering systems.
  • Strong to excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team, with ability to deliver information in a clear and respectful manner to fellow team members, customers, and vendors.
  • Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions with customers, vendors, and team members, with a strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
  • Understanding of and compliance with WFM quality goals, with ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, with ability to stand/walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day.
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling, with ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals, temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and ability to handle knives and other cutting equipment.
