Position Overview:
This role operates under general supervision as a vital member of the healthcare team, executing a range of responsibilities including welcoming patients, managing patient registration, verifying insurance coverage, scheduling appointments, and handling telephone communications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to telephone inquiries promptly and courteously
  • Schedule and register patient appointments while adhering to established protocols
  • Manage a high volume of incoming calls efficiently
  • Address questions and concerns, directing them to the appropriate department or location
  • Gather and input all necessary demographic, clinical, billing, and insurance information from patients or their representatives
  • Educate patients by explaining preparation and instructions for their upcoming appointments
  • Utilize Electronic Health Records (EHR) to communicate with clinical staff and/or providers regarding telephone encounters using SBAR format and/or relevant smart phrases
  • Operate a multi-line telephone system proficiently
  • Minimum one year of experience in customer service, ideally in a clinical setting
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate's degree or relevant healthcare certification preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with a professional demeanor and reliability
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information appropriately
  • Capacity to communicate effectively in a dynamic multi-office environment
  • Proficiency in operating all job-related office equipment
  • Ability to follow or provide clear verbal and written instructions
  • Skill in relating to individuals from diverse educational, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills required
  • Mathematical and/or analytical skills for basic to intermediate problem-solving
  • Specialized knowledge of systems relevant to job functions
