Job Overview

Position: Lead Financial Accountant

Location: Hybrid

Salary: $105,000 / year (Dependent on Experience)

A well-established family-run real estate organization is in search of a highly skilled Lead Financial Accountant to become a vital part of their finance team. This role will collaborate closely with the Controller and senior management to oversee comprehensive accounting operations, including general ledger management, payroll processing, cash flow oversight, financial reporting, and accounts payable across various entities. Additionally, the position will provide accounting support for real estate development and project cost management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the monthly financial closing activities.
  • Manage accounting for development projects, including monitoring and reporting on costs, budgets, and discrepancies.
  • Supervise job cost accounting to ensure precise allocation and classification of project expenditures.
  • Oversee payroll preparation and processing, including necessary reconciliations and reporting.
  • Manage cash flow operations, projections, and reconciliation tasks.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of accounts payable.
  • Assist in the preparation of income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Support financial forecasting, budgeting, and strategic decision-making processes.
  • Guarantee compliance with GAAP and internal policies in all financial dealings.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Provide assistance during audit processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is preferred.
  • A minimum of 4 years of accounting experience; public accounting or CPA certification is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Excel, particularly in data analysis and financial modeling.
  • Experience with Accumatica or construction accounting software is highly desirable.
  • Strong grasp of accounting principles, including month-end close processes, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, payroll, and job cost accounting.
  • Familiarity with development accounting, especially in the real estate or construction sectors, is a plus.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • High level of discretion, confidentiality, and attention to detail, particularly regarding sensitive information.
