Position Overview:
This role will include a hybrid work schedule, with in-office attendance required for a minimum of three days each week. The primary responsibilities will be carried out at our headquarters.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Functions (90% of the role):
- Educate staff on accounting practices and provide ongoing training during team meetings.
- Monitor incoming checks received via mail and process them for deposit.
- Assist the accounting firm with managing accounts receivable and accounts payable.
-Support the accounting firm in collecting necessary tax forms, processing 1099s, and tracking outstanding payments.
- Review monthly credit card statements, gather general ledger codes from staff, and submit for payment.
- Coordinate volunteer payments, including honoraria and reimbursements.
- Manage daily lockbox transactions and provide monthly reconciliation reports to the accounting firm.
- Act as a backup for bi-weekly payroll processing.
- Verify vendor invoices for accuracy and prepare them for payment.
- Assist in managing the annual budget cycle with the executive team.
- Oversee annual audit coordination with staff and CPA advisors, including the 990 filing process.
- Perform additional tasks as directed by the executive team.
Administrative Duties (10% of the role):
- Support the organizational framework by participating in staff meetings, engaging in task forces, pursuing professional development, collaborating with colleagues, and completing necessary documentation promptly.
- Contribute to various projects and initiatives that support the organization's objectives.
-Complete other tasks as assigned by the executive team.
Travel Requirements:
- No travel to meetings or events is expected for this position.
Qualifications:
- Education: A bachelor's degree is required; CPA designation is preferred.
- Experience: At least five years of experience in an accounting role, ideally within a non-profit or association context.
