Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Resurgens Orthopaedics. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our licensed providers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for visits by escorting them to examination rooms, providing necessary equipment, and assisting with patient positioning.
  • Interview patients, record medical histories, and obtain vital signs as needed.
  • Assist healthcare providers during examinations, including tasks such as dressing changes, vital sign collection, and medication preparation.
  • Generate orders for prescriptions, diagnostic imaging, and other medical services as directed by providers.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments, tests, and procedures with designated providers or facilities.
  • Coordinate surgery scheduling, including obtaining medical clearances, precertifications, and consents.
  • Reconcile patient health history information, update relevant documentation, and scan necessary paperwork into our electronic medical record system.
  • Triage patient correspondence, document interactions in our EMR system, and advise providers on necessary actions.
  • Maintain exam rooms, including stocking supplies, cleaning equipment, and disposing of contaminated materials.
  • Clean and sterilize medical instruments and equipment.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent, with current Basic Life Support (CPR, BLS) certification.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Certified Orthopedic Tech preferred.
  • Two years of orthopedic experience or three years of medical office experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMRs).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in all written and verbal interactions.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to comprehend and complete assigned tasks in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Conflict management skills.
  • Knowledge of orthopedic terminology, surgical and diagnostic procedures, casting and splinting, and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with patients and families.
  • Valid Georgia driver's license and driving history meeting Resurgens' requirements.
Work Environment

The work environment is typical of a physician practice, with occasional exposure to infectious diseases when interacting with patients and/or family members. The employee may be occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
