Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team, responsible for performing, interpreting, and reporting clinical laboratory diagnostic tests on blood and body fluids.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and interpret clinical laboratory diagnostic tests on blood and body fluids.
  • Maintain competency in licensed areas and perform testing as needed.
  • Ensure continuous operation of testing analyzers, laboratory processes, and equipment by performing quality control and calibrations.
  • Participate in the evaluation, implementation, and validation of new equipment and techniques.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new team members.
  • Maintain laboratory supply and reagent inventory, anticipating needed supplies and expediting orders.
  • Conserve laboratory resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently.
  • Review pending logs, resolve outstanding workload, and communicate findings to the next shift.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control and hazardous waste policies and protocols.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and protect the hospital's reputation.

Requirements

  • AA/AS or BS degree preferred.
  • State of Florida Technologist License required.
  • National Certification, ASCP preferred.
  • Special skills include the ability to correlate results from various tests and relate to patient treatment, multitasking, and learning instrumentation and software systems.
