Position Overview
Qualifications


Ideal candidates will possess a BSCE degree, California Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer, and a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in land development and/or public works; or equivalent work experience totaling twelve (12) years in the industry.

Additionally, candidates should have at least eight (8) years of management experience overseeing the work of engineers, designers, and other project support personnel.


Successful candidates will demonstrate:
Strong independent thought and decision-making capabilities
Proven leadership and supervisory skills
Management proficiency
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with clients, public agency personnel, and in-house staff.

Managerial experience should include:

Supervision of engineering design teams
Management of project timelines and budgets
Preparation and oversight of contracts, fee proposals, and scopes of work; significant experience in client interactions and contract management.

Technical experience should encompass:

Site assessments and the ability to conduct engineering design studies (including infrastructure requirements and potential regulatory considerations)
Preparation and processing of regulatory plans
Preparation and processing of public improvement plans supporting public agencies and capital improvement projects
Preparation and processing of plans for land development projects
Expertise in navigating plans through County Public Works.
Ability to conduct constructability reviews
Experience with a variety of construction support services

Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Microsoft Projects, and Bluebeam is essential.

Additional Skills:
Application of engineering principles, techniques, and procedures to design
Working knowledge of business and management principles related to strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production procedures, and coordination of personnel
Ability to accept and carry out responsibility for the design team's direction, control, and planning; setting realistic goals and making independent plans
Thorough understanding of jurisdictional processing
Effective negotiation skills
Demonstrated high level of leadership and management ability; receptiveness to constructive feedback and effective time management
Ability to relate well and maintain a high level of respect and confidence from colleagues and public agencies
High level of competence in written and oral communication
Knowledge of CAD and its capabilities for preparing exhibits, studies, and/or final plans.
