Position Overview

The Project Superintendent is responsible for maintaining quality and budgetary controls on each project while ensuring client satisfaction by recognizing and surpassing client expectations through the management of daily operations. This role requires the ability to engage with various personnel at all levels in a dynamic environment, remaining adaptable, resourceful, proactive, and efficient while upholding a high standard of professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overseeing all field operations for assigned projects
  • Coordinating, directing, and supervising the quality of work and labor
  • Managing the procurement of materials and equipment
  • Ensuring project requirements are met concerning safety, timelines, quality assurance, and budget management
  • Addressing site issues that may arise beyond the control of project managers
  • Handling multiple projects simultaneously
  • Guiding the work of foremen and crews according to client, general contractor, and architect specifications
  • Mentoring and supervising project foremen throughout the project lifecycle
  • Maintaining effective communication with all team members, including leading on-site discussions
  • Overseeing project field cost management
  • Promptly and professionally resolving any issues that arise on-site and informing relevant parties
  • Acting as a courteous liaison between vendors and clients/general contractors throughout the project, ensuring effective daily communication for successful project delivery
  • Minimizing job site disruptions and achieving a zero-punch list through continuous communication with field personnel
  • Taking ownership of the project by consistently reviewing plans, drawings, and specifications while communicating with all team members

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a construction superintendent or in a comparable role within construction management
  • Possession of a valid driver's license

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in reading, interpreting, and implementing project plans and documentation
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and exercise independent judgment in daily project administration
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Aptitude for anticipating challenges and devising solutions
  • Capability to convey detailed information among project managers, foremen, field crews, subcontractors, and architects/engineers
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and foster positive, professional relationships
  • Highly organized and disciplined
  • Familiarity with construction-related equipment and its proper usage

Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit for extended periods, stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop.

Work Environment

Work is conducted both indoors (in job-site trailers/offices) and outdoors (at construction sites). Travel may be required as necessary.
