Job Title: General Manager

Sur La Table is seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Manager to lead our store operations and culinary teams. As a General Manager, you will be responsible for inspiring customers on their culinary journey, driving retail and culinary business results, and building a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Model and direct employees to ensure exceptional customer service standards.
  • Create an environment where employees are informed and capable by directing training activities for all retail and culinary employees.
  • Ensure all Sur La Table policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) are communicated effectively to employees, maintained, and consistently followed.
  • Manage the complete operations of the store, ensuring employees are effective at executing corporate initiatives in a timely, efficient, and resource-wise manner.
  • Proactively monitor and manage store staffing levels according to retail and culinary censuses and fluctuations in seasonal business needs.
  • Maintain an active performance development process, providing coaching in the moment and performance feedback to employees, and conducting formal performance reviews.
  • Seek opportunities to increase topline sales, challenging and inspiring employees to achieve and execute sales-driving initiatives.
  • Analyze and measure retail and culinary business trends, developing and implementing plans to drive topline sales, profitability, and culinary revenue.
  • Complete the store schedule, optimizing allocated hours to meet retail and culinary goals.
  • Stay informed by maintaining product knowledge, accessing available training, and seeking out additional resources when necessary.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of employee information, including Time and Attendance records and personal data.
  • Manage inventory, control shrink, retail supply, and culinary expenses.
  • Partner with District Manager, HQ Retail Operations, Human Resources, and other departments as needed or necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable wage and hour laws, accurately recording time worked according to SLT policy.
  • Demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills with employees, customers, field management, and corporate office.
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible retail management experience, with prior experience as a Sur La Table Store Manager preferred.
  • Experience driving sales and motivating high-performing sales teams.
  • Experience training others and holding teams accountable.
  • Experience leading and coaching teams of varied specialists.
  • Proven financial management skills.
  • Food Handler or Food Manager Certification.
  • Proficient in POS systems.
  • Familiarity with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
