Clifford Power Systems, Inc. is looking for a qualified individual to fill the role of Field Service Generator Technician in the Houston region. No prior experience in power generation is necessary to begin your career in this field. We provide comprehensive training to transform candidates with a solid understanding of mechanical systems into proficient Generator Technicians. A foundational knowledge of combustion engines is essential, as our equipment is typically powered by Diesel, Natural Gas, or Propane engines. Additionally, familiarity with electrical systems is required, as we work with various A/C power configurations, including 120/240v single phase and 277/480v three phase, as well as D/C controls ranging from 12v to 24v. Proficiency in using a laptop for control software is also necessary.

Typical Day as a Generator Field Service Technician:
Each day, you will start by accessing your schedule on your tablet or laptop to confirm your assignments. You will then depart from your residence in a company-provided service vehicle to your first job site. Tasks may include routine Planned Maintenance Inspections or more complex Engine Services, such as oil and filter changes. Your responsibilities may also involve handling Quoted Service Repairs or Emergency Trouble Calls. For experienced technicians, tasks may include commissioning or starting up newly installed generators. We focus on commissioning rather than installation. At the conclusion of each task, you will complete your paperwork electronically and synchronize the information using a Mobile Technician Application, which will also provide any schedule updates. You will return home at the end of your workday, with office visits limited to when parts or supplies are needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver exceptional customer service that exceeds expectations
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues on power generation equipment
  • Conduct work on power generation systems at customer locations or occasionally at our local facility
  • Adhere to safe practices while operating the service vehicle
  • Perform preventive maintenance on power generation systems
  • Execute start-ups on new power generation systems
  • Carry out warranty work on power generation systems
  • Complete necessary paperwork and electronic submissions promptly
  • Manage parts inventory within the service vehicle
  • Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call technician schedule
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.

Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience with diesel and/or natural gas engines, generators, and automatic transfer switches.

Requirements:

The ability to lift up to 50 pounds is essential.
