Job Overview

Position Summary:
The Erection Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and directing all assembly and erection activities within the Laydown area across both facilities, emphasizing safety, quality, productivity, and team development. This role involves leading a team of Laydown Foremen in a culture of continuous improvement while ensuring adherence to assembly schedules.

This position reports directly to the Production Manager and collaborates closely with corporate leaders, including the Maintenance Manager, Operations Coordinators, Shop Superintendents, Safety Directors, and Quality Manager, to address all laydown requirements.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to all TTI/FSS Company Safety Policies to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee daily laydown operations by guiding a team of foremen with a focus on safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Stay informed about project-specific technical specifications and timelines to ensure timely material fabrication and completion. Coordinate with Shop Superintendents regarding priorities and schedules.
  • Review all technical drawings to understand the scope of work in laydown and plan accordingly for execution.
  • Familiarize yourself with all laydown personnel and their skills to optimize team placement for maximum productivity.
  • Ensure adequate staffing for all shifts in the laydown department to meet erection demands by assessing shortfalls and communicating with management.
  • Confirm that the laydown area is equipped with necessary tools and materials by liaising with the appropriate contacts.
  • Ensure Laydown Foremen adhere to all operational procedures and company policies while achieving production targets.
  • Report any issues affecting production, quality, or safety to senior management promptly.
  • Mentor and develop laydown personnel, identifying training needs and suitable positions that will enhance departmental performance.
  • Follow directives from senior management and effectively guide Laydown Foremen to ensure compliance with all instructions.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary to support company operations.
Quality Assurance:
Must be capable of executing all assembly and erection projects while ensuring compliance with established guidelines, codes, and specifications.

Collaboration:
Teamwork is crucial in this role; the Erection Operations Supervisor must maintain a positive attitude and work effectively with all departments, managers, and staff.

Actively engage in safety meetings and promote a culture of safety within the organization while collaborating closely with the safety department.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must demonstrate proficiency in all essential duties and consistently represent the company in a professional manner. The qualifications listed below are indicative of the minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

The Erection Operations Supervisor should possess a background in supervision, coaching, process management, process improvement, and production planning, along with strong interpersonal skills.

Education and Experience:
A high school diploma and a minimum of five years of supervisory experience in D1.5 bridge fabrication, with a focus on AISC and D1.5 code work, are required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word, is essential.

Communication Skills:
The Erection Operations Supervisor must communicate professionally and respectfully, both verbally and in writing, with colleagues, other departments, and management.

Reporting Structure:
This position reports to the Production Manager.
