Position Summary: Under minimal supervision, the Irrigation Technician executes irrigation tasks at designated job sites. The role requires a strong emphasis on safety, utilizing appropriate tools for specific assignments, and adhering to established Jensen standards for landscape irrigation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute irrigation tasks efficiently.
  • Maintain punctuality and notify the Supervisor in case of absence.
  • Arrive at work in the proper uniform, including approved footwear.
  • Manage vehicle organization by unloading after work and preparing for the next day.
  • May oversee the work of 1-2 laborers and provide guidance to fellow technicians.
  • Interpret and implement irrigation plans accurately.
  • Create as-built drawings, site activity maps, and work orders.
  • Repair various types of piping, including copper and asbestos cement, and install or repair sprinkler systems and valves.
  • Position sprinklers correctly concerning landscape features.
  • Disassemble, troubleshoot, and repair solenoid-operated irrigation control valves.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in installing replacement valves and making flow control adjustments.
  • Operate controllers and manually manage irrigation stations.
  • Verify and adjust irrigation programs on controllers.
  • Install remote harnesses as needed.
  • Utilize tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Complete field paperwork accurately, including time cards and material lists.
  • Communicate effectively regarding any injuries or unsafe conditions.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is conducted outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly throughout the day.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, and pulling of materials and equipment.
  • Capability to work in diverse positions, including standing, walking, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of landscape maintenance techniques and tools.
  • Comprehensive understanding of irrigation wiring and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with different types of PVC piping.
  • Ability to select appropriate sprinkler nozzles for specific areas.
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits and minor controller repairs.
  • Proficient in using power tools safely.
  • Awareness of water management issues.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • 3-5 years of experience in irrigation or equivalent education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record.
