Job Title: Director, Strategic Investments

Join Chegg's Strategic Growth Team as a Director, Strategic Investments and play a vital role in shaping the company's growth trajectory.

About the Role

The Director, Strategic Investments will be responsible for prioritizing and executing strategic initiatives that drive Chegg's growth. This includes planning and executing mergers and acquisitions, as well as analyzing and debating strategic options through rigorous financial analysis and long-range planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the VP, Strategic Growth and internal stakeholders to drive strategic initiatives
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of Chegg's strategic priorities and develop intellectually authentic environments for making high-stakes decisions
  • Support and lead all phases of the M&A process, including target identification, relationship development, business analysis, valuation, negotiation, execution, and integration planning
  • Lead financial analyses to bring clarity to ROI, articulate business model implications, and reinforce long-term financial objectives
  • Prepare and deliver evidence-based presentations supported by compelling strategic narratives and rationale
  • Contribute to the development of supporting strategies that dovetail with Chegg's overall goals
  • Develop trusted and resourceful relationships both internally and externally to sharpen strategic and competitive perspective
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in corporate development, private equity, investment banking, or related field with direct experience leading M&A transactions
  • Significant experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams in the execution of M&A transactions, including thesis development, due diligence, negotiation, execution, and integration
  • Exceptional versatility, able to effectively prioritize, zoom-in/zoom-out in accordance with business needs; grit
  • Highly proficient in business and financial analysis, able to synthesize meaningful insights with imperfect information
  • Substantial experience building relationships with senior management, both internally and externally
  • Able to report into our Santa Clara, CA headquarters (preferred) or our New York, NY office
  • Bachelor's degree, MBA preferred
  • Demonstrated interest or direct experience in EdTech is a plus
