About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Tech to join our team at Northeast Georgia Health System Inc. As a Mental Health Tech, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support in our behavioral health setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain initial patient information and document it appropriately
  • Assist patients with unit tours and orientation, including explaining patient rights
  • Perform searches of patients and their belongings, following established policies
  • Assist with lab specimen collection and preparation for transport
  • Participate in structuring the therapeutic milieu by interacting with patients and encouraging their participation in groups
  • Observe and document patient physical and mental status, responding to changes in condition and reporting to the Charge Nurse as needed
  • Use therapeutic communication effectively with patients in groups and one-to-one situations
  • Follow designated observation levels and record required patient checks on appropriate forms
  • Provide patient care activities and clerical tasks to support the maintenance of the therapeutic milieu and meet patient needs for comfort and safety
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years of hospital experience (preferred)
  • Basic Clinical Support skills
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in a behavioral health setting
  • Effective team building and communication skills
