Job Summary

UF Health Shands is seeking a skilled Mental Health Therapist to join our team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary treatment team, you will provide comprehensive psychosocial evaluations, develop treatment plans, and deliver individual, group, and family therapies. Your expertise will also include patient and family education, discharge planning, and coordination of follow-up services.

As a Mental Health Therapist at UF Health Shands, you will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care coordination and compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Your strong communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to effectively collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough psychosocial evaluations to identify patient needs and develop individualized treatment plans
  • Deliver evidence-based therapies, including individual, group, and family sessions
  • Provide patient and family education on mental health conditions, treatment options, and self-care strategies
  • Coordinate discharge planning and follow-up services to ensure continuity of care
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team to ensure compliance with Florida Mental Health Law, AHCA, and JCAHO regulations
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a Master's degree in nursing, social work, or a related field from an accredited university. Post-graduate experience in psychiatric treatment is preferred. You must also be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) with a Master's in Nursing (MSN) or be license-eligible as a clinical social worker, mental health counselor, or marriage and family therapist.

Please note that this position does not require frequent driving, and you will not be operating vehicles for business purposes.
