Senior Probation and Parole Officer

A comprehensive understanding of victim sensitivity, risk management techniques, and case management practices is crucial. Building and maintaining professional relationships with local law enforcement and community stakeholders is necessary. Previous experience in corrections, law enforcement, or military service is highly valued for this role. The position involves both office duties and fieldwork, with a standard schedule from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and may require additional hours during weekends and evenings. Travel for training may also be necessary.
Eligibility CriteriaThis role, Probation and Parole Officer II, is open to all state employees and external candidates.
Environmental Considerations:
Work will be conducted in a field office and community settings, involving frequent interactions with potentially high-risk clients. The role may entail high-stress situations and some risk of assault. Evening, weekend, and shift work may be required to ensure effective service delivery and supervision. Field travel is expected, and candidates may need to provide their own transportation.
Minimum QualificationsA Master's degree in social work, criminal justice, human services, psychology, or a related field is required.
OR
A Bachelor's degree coupled with at least eighteen (18) months of experience in human services casework.
OR
A high school diploma or equivalent, along with three (3) years of experience in human services casework.
OR
Two (2) years of experience as a Probation & Parole Officer I and successful completion of the required departmental training.
Preferred QualificationsA Bachelor's degree or higher in social work, criminal justice, human services, psychology, or a related discipline, with experience in casework delivery, planning, and offender evaluation in a correctional context is preferred.
Military experience is also advantageous.
Special RequirementsA valid driver's license is mandatory, and a criminal background check will be conducted prior to hiring. Certain convictions may disqualify candidates.
Candidates must successfully pass any applicable background investigation for the position.
