Medical Assistant Professional

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at MLK Community Healthcare. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist physicians with patient-related procedures, patient history, and maintain a smooth patient flow.
- Function as a liaison between physicians, patients, and medical office staff.
- Perform basic medical assistant functions, including injections, immunizations, and pulmonary function testing.
- Acquire thorough patient histories, document preventative care, and assist with medication reconciliation.
- Review patient orders for completeness, cancel any orders not completed prior to patient checkout, and rectify inaccuracies.
- Obtain waivers and consents, document procedures, and provide instruction to patients.
- Prepare examination rooms, maintain stock, and disinfect rooms daily.
- Assure patients are checked out, provided with a patient summary plan, and review the plan to ensure understanding.
- Exhibit tact, courtesy, respect, cooperation, and support in all interactions with patients, staff, and providers.
- Perform duties with speed and accuracy, observing guidelines set forth by OSHA, HIPAA, DHS, CLIA, EPA, and specific contracts.
Requirements
- Medical Assistant Diploma/Certificate from an accredited school.
- CMA Certification preferred.
- Maintain certification by completing CMEs and keeping certifications up to date.
- High School graduate or GED.
- BLS certified and knowledge of emergency procedures.
- Minimum of one year experience in a medical practice environment.
- Knowledge of medical technology, procedural terminology, and diagnostic codes.
- Ability to maintain a professional and patient-care-oriented attitude.
