Position: Mechanical Integrity Engineer

Location: Valley Green, PA

As a key player in the High-Speed Products Group, the Mechanical Integrity Engineer will be instrumental in advancing our high-speed electrical connectors, which are essential for the Telecom and Datacom industries. This role is pivotal in supporting the ongoing development of innovative products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of new products through rigorous mechanical testing and data analysis.
  • Create and implement test sequences and protocols to assess the long-term reliability of electrical connectors, considering customer applications.
  • Analyze testing outcomes and prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in product design by conducting mechanical analyses, including tolerance assessments, finite element analysis (FEA), and materials evaluation.
  • Design and fabricate test fixtures, prepare test samples, and collaborate with testing laboratory personnel.
  • Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing teams to facilitate the development and validation of product prototypes.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Mechanical Engineering with 5 to 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in solid modeling software such as Pro/E and/or Solidworks.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools, including MS Excel and Minitab.
  • Experience in developing test plans for mechanical and environmental testing of I/O connectors, including ESD testing.
  • Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis tools, particularly ANSYS, is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
  • Passion for innovation in product and process design.
  • Understanding of copper alloys and high-performance engineering thermoplastics is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical connectors is beneficial.
