As a per diem psychiatric nurse, you will be responsible for providing immediate and long-term nursing care needs of patients within the standards of the department, hospital, and regulatory agencies. You will accurately assess patients' needs, identify patient behaviors that contribute to the development of a crisis, and utilize non-verbal and verbal techniques to de-escalate crisis situations. You will also accurately plan nursing interventions for assigned patients, establish a therapeutic alliance with assigned patients, and demonstrate safe, accurate, and timely medication administration.

You will participate in leading patient groups and provide a leadership role in organizing and providing patient care. You will also provide direction and supervision of Mental Health Workers and provide for teaching needs of patients and significant others. You will utilize the nursing process to provide for immediate and long-term nursing care needs of patients within the standards of the department, hospital, and regulatory agencies.

Education; Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, BSN preferred. Experience; No experience required, one year medical/psychiatric experience preferred. License; Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills. Ability to utilize the nursing process. Ability to work collaboratively. Employees are expected to remain awake and alert at all times on all shifts. All employees must possess basic computer skills to use a variety of electronic or online systems for communication, clinical, and administrative purposes. Required to complete electronic medical records training and demonstrate 80% accuracy on competency test within 30 days of hire.
