The Region Counsel role at D.R. Horton, the largest homebuilder in the U.S., offers an exciting opportunity to oversee and coordinate all regions legal matters with emphasis on land acquisition. As a key member of our team, you will advise the Region President on all acquisition matters involving divisions within the region.

This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities. If you have a Jurist Doctoral degree (J.D.) or equivalent, more than ten years of related experience, and are licensed to practice law, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing legal advice related to land acquisition and development, including drafting contracts and related documents, working with division personnel, handling closings, consulting with and coordinating outside counsel as necessary
  • Reviewing and revising homebuyer contract documents; advising regarding RESPA issues and other issues
  • Reviewing and revising subcontractor contract documents, handling disputes
  • Reviewing safety programs, reviewing and revising manual and written policies, handling safety issues including OSHA
  • Reviewing marketing contract and programs; drafting documentation as necessary
  • Providing advice regarding employment matters and issues; assisting in drafting job descriptions; handling disputes, drafting policies, involving outside counsel as necessary

We offer a competitive salary of $120,000 per year, based on industry standards, location, and qualifications.
