Job Title: Senior Multidisciplined Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Multidisciplined Engineer to join our team at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory. As a key member of our Procurement Engineering Services unit, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of our nation's naval nuclear reactors.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies, managing contracts, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. You will work closely with laboratory requestors to develop technical specifications, ensure quality assurance requirements are met, and provide engineering training to requestors on proper methods for developing high-quality technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to meet laboratory needs
  • Manage contracts and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Work with laboratory requestors to develop technical specifications and ensure quality assurance requirements are met
  • Provide engineering training to requestors on proper methods for developing high-quality technical requirements
  • Recommend and implement process improvements using lean/6 Sigma principles
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science-related field and 6 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree and 4 years of relevant experience
  • Experience reviewing and developing technical specifications, functional requirements, and drawings
  • Experience with machine and fabrication, construction, and/or service contracts
  • Experience with document reviews, engineering evaluations/analysis, and providing subject matter expertise on regulated areas
  • Experience with developing with Microsoft PowerApps
  • Experience with quality and safety standards such as NQA-1, OSHA, ISO 9000
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with developing technical specifications, functional requirements, and drawings
  • Experience with machine and fabrication, construction, and/or service contracts
  • Experience with document reviews, engineering evaluations/analysis, and providing subject matter expertise on regulated areas
  • Experience with developing with Microsoft PowerApps
  • Experience with quality and safety standards such as NQA-1, OSHA, ISO 9000

Pay Range:

$92,145.20 annually

Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.

Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations.

For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets.
