Position: Investigative Writer for AML Suspicious Activity Reports

Location: Hybrid Role

Contract Duration: 6+ Months (Potential for Extension)

Primary Responsibilities:


• Compile and articulate findings from case reviews and investigations, ensuring thorough documentation of case files (including media search results, statements, checks, and internal system search outcomes).


• Perform in-depth research utilizing available banking systems, online resources, and databases to resolve investigative queries.


• Analyze financial statements and transaction data to identify atypical transaction patterns.


• Engage with relevant Points of Contact (POC) to gather additional information necessary for case support.


• Maintain comprehensive records of all research and analyses conducted within the Case Management System.


• Draft Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and provide recommendations regarding relationship retention or termination, as well as track account closures as needed.


• Collaborate with various units including CRIU, ACRM, Business, CSIS, FIU Legal, Trade Surveillance, and Law Enforcement when applicable.

Required Qualifications:


• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience.


• 1-5 years of experience in scrutinizing customer transactions for potentially suspicious activities and conducting AML or financial investigations.


• Proficiency in drafting and preparing Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) in compliance with regulatory standards is preferred.


• CAMS Certification is advantageous.


• Familiarity with laws governing money laundering, terrorist financing, and related financial crimes, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), USA PATRIOT Act, and other regulatory requirements.


• Understanding of compliance within sectors such as Senior Public Figures, Money Service Businesses, Wealth Management, and Retail Banking is preferred.


• Strong organizational, time management, and project management capabilities.


• Exceptional research skills, including proficiency with online search tools.


• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-Access, MS-PowerPoint, and MS-Outlook).


• Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.


• High attention to detail and effective follow-up skills.


• Self-motivated and organized, with the capacity to work independently without supervision.
