Position Summary

We are seeking a Technical Art Director to join our Boston studio, focusing on Project Orion, the successor to Cyberpunk 2077 and the next significant installment in the Cyberpunk series. The Technical Art Director will collaborate with various leads and directors to enhance our tools development and art pipelines, ensuring visual excellence while overseeing VFX and technical animation resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Project Art Director to devise technical strategies that align with the artistic vision of the game.
  • Recruit and lead a team of highly skilled technical artists.
  • Establish and uphold best practices for optimizing and enhancing game art performance.
  • Guide direct reports in setting goals, career advancement, and performance evaluations.
  • Work alongside both Art and Engineering teams to achieve top-tier visuals.
  • Engage closely with artists and engineers to produce optimized, high-quality visual assets, tools, and pipeline solutions.
  • Lead initiatives to address complex technical art challenges.
  • Define and document technical art processes, tools, and best practices.
  • Maintain the content creation pipeline effectively.
  • Draft and prepare briefs for collaboration with external vendors, reviewing their work as necessary.
  • Coordinate with directors and Production to estimate and plan project work.
  • Inspire and mentor the Technical Art team, fostering an environment of creativity, trust, and excellence.
Qualifications
  • Proven ability to work independently, taking ownership of tasks and delivering results.
  • At least 10 years of experience in a Technical Artist role.
  • Prior experience as a Technical Art Director or Principal Technical Artist.
  • Extensive background in developing and refining content workflows and pipelines.
  • Expertise in UE5 and blueprints.
  • A strong artistic sensibility with the ability to enhance visual quality.
  • A solid portfolio showcasing technical expertise.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard tools such as Houdini, Blender, and Substance Designer.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and collaboration skills, particularly in bridging the gap between art and engineering.
  • Able to provide and receive constructive feedback in a professional manner.
  • A passionate gamer with a deep appreciation for the industry.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in scripting languages relevant to procedural generation, such as Python.
  • Experience working on AAA titles.
