Job Title: Technical Art Director

CD PROJEKT RED is seeking a highly skilled Technical Art Director to join our team in Boston. As a key member of our art team, you will be responsible for driving the development of our tools and pipelines for art, delivering exceptional visual quality, and managing VFX and Technical animation resources.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Project Art Director to determine technical solutions to achieve the artistic vision of the game.
  • Lead a team of highly technical employees and manage their performance.
  • Develop and enforce best practices for optimization and performance of game art.
  • Work with direct reports on goal setting, career development, and performance.
  • Partner with Art and Engineering to drive best-in-class visuals.
  • Develop optimized, high-quality visual assets, tools, and pipeline solutions.
  • Lead efforts to solve complex technical art challenges.
  • Define and document technical art processes, tools, and best practices.
  • Maintain the content creation pipeline.
  • Prepare briefs for work with outsource vendors and review their work.
  • Work with directors and Production to estimate and plan work.
  • Inspire and mentor the Technical Art team, building an environment of creativity, trust, and excellence.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a Technical Artist.
  • Previous experience as a Technical Art Director or Principal Technical Artist.
  • Extensive experience developing and improving content workflows and pipelines.
  • Expert knowledge of UE5 and blueprints.
  • A keen artistic eye and the ability to drive visual quality.
  • Solid portfolio demonstrating expertise.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard tools like Houdini, Blender, Substance Designer.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
  • Able to deliver and receive feedback in a productive and accountable manner.

Nice to Have:
  • Scripting proficiency in languages relevant to procedural generation, such as Python.
  • Prior experience in AAA titles.
