Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team at the Calipatria State Prison. As a Recreation Therapist, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating therapeutic recreation programs for patients within our institution. Your primary goal will be to promote the physical, emotional, and social well-being of our patients through recreational activities and therapy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement therapeutic recreation programs for patients, including individual and group activities
  • Monitor and document patient progress, working closely with other healthcare providers to share assessment information and incorporate recreational therapy into treatment plans
  • Maintain a safe and orderly environment, supervising patient conduct to protect people and property
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and support for patients
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in therapeutic recreation and adapt programs to meet the evolving needs of our patients
Requirements
  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in recreation or recreation therapy, with a specialization in recreation therapy or a related field
  • Current certification or eligibility for certification as a recreation therapist by the California Board of Recreation and Park Certification or the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification, Inc.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple tasks and responsibilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to learn and grow in a dynamic environment
