Recreation Therapist, Correctional Facility Position

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team at the California Correctional Institution. As a Recreation Therapist, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating therapeutic recreation programs for patients within our correctional facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement therapeutic recreation programs for patients
  • Provide individual and group recreation therapy to patients
  • Monitor and document treatment progress
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers to share recreational therapy assessment information and incorporate therapeutic recreational activities into treatment plans
  • Maintain order and supervise the conduct of patients to protect and maintain the safety of persons and property

Requirements:

  • Equivalent to graduation from a recognized college with major work in recreation or recreation therapy
  • Registration as a senior will admit applicants to the examination, but they must produce evidence of graduation or its equivalent and completion of the required field work before they will be considered eligible for appointment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current certification or eligibility for certification as a recreation therapist by the California Board of Recreation and Park Certification or by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification, Inc.
