Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Internal Audit to lead our Internal Audit function and serve as a core team member for our Enterprise Risk Management program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a risk-based audit plan to ensure the effectiveness of our internal controls and risk management processes.
  • Manage and coordinate external audits initiated by the State of Montana's Legislative Audit Division and other State or Federal agencies.
  • Provide consulting services on State and University policies, as well as State/Federal laws and regulations.
  • Investigate allegations of fraud, waste, and abuse of State resources.
  • Develop and maintain successful professional relationships with key stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, management information systems, business analytics, or a related field.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in internal audit, with a strong understanding of the IIA's International Professional Practices Framework.
  • Experience managing integrated audits that address a combination of financial, operational, and technology objectives.
  • High business acumen and ability to understand the University's strategy.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in accounting, management information systems, business analytics, or a related field.
  • Experience in higher education.
