Position Overview:
The Patient Access Representative serves as a vital front-line contact for Truman Medical Centers, responsible for gathering essential demographic and financial information from patients and other sources. This role is crucial in facilitating access to clinical and financial systems within the hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct interviews with patients to collect necessary demographic and financial data.
- Ensure accurate communication of health benefit regulations and patient financial responsibilities to relevant parties.
- Verify financial and insurance details, securing necessary pre-certifications and authorizations for referrals.
- Collect co-payments and complete all required admission and registration documentation.
- Manage bed assignments, patient transfers, and discharges, while reconciling bed census.
- Refer patients to appropriate financial resources as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Experience in a customer service capacity is essential.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and hospital staff.
- Proficient written communication and keyboarding skills are necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of experience in a patient-facing role.
- Familiarity with patient interactions in a healthcare, business, or insurance setting.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
