Mental Health Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team at WMCHealth. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to individuals with mental health needs.
Responsibilities- Hygiene and Grooming: Assist patients with daily hygiene and grooming tasks, including bathing, oral care, and dressing, while maintaining a safe and clean environment.
- Mobility: Help patients with physical mobility needs, such as ambulation, repositioning, and bed rest, to ensure their comfort and safety.
- Nutrition: Assist patients with meal preparation, feeding, and calorie count maintenance, while promoting healthy eating habits.
- Communication: Demonstrate effective communication skills to process and interface information between the healthcare team and patients, families, and significant others.
- Vital Signs and Treatment: Assess and record patients' vital signs, including temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respirations, and perform treatments and procedures according to established policies and procedures.
- Rounds and Safety Checks: Conduct regular unit rounds and safety checks to ensure patients' comfort and safety needs are met, and report any concerns to the RN and/or LPN staff.
- Clean-up and Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized patient and unit environment, including bedmaking and stock supplies.
- Unit Competencies: Demonstrate knowledge and skills in preventing and managing crisis, restraint use, and application, as well as unit-specific competencies.
- Experience: No prior experience is required, but experience in the mental health field is preferred.
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent education/experience is required.
- Licenses and Certifications: A CNA certification is preferred but not required.
