General Overview:
Under the supervision of the Director of Pediatric Pharmacy, the Pediatric Pharmacy Manager is tasked with overseeing the pediatric clinical pharmacy services at OU Health.

Key Responsibilities:
The following responsibilities are fundamental to this role. Failure to fulfill these duties, with or without reasonable accommodation, may lead to disqualification from the position.

Coordinates, implements, and manages all aspects of pediatric clinical pharmacy operations, focusing on therapeutic drug monitoring, clinical pathways, formulary management, pharmacoeconomics, and patient outcomes.

Develops and enforces policies, practices, and procedures for pediatric clinical pharmacy services, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, including those set by The Joint Commission and the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy.

Manages operational aspects of designated pediatric clinical service areas in alignment with hospital goals and objectives, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and the growth of clinical services.

Acts as the primary contact for the OU College of Pharmacy regarding experiential and residency programs.

Facilitates the creation, implementation, and maintenance of systems that enhance patient outcomes through the use of safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapies.

Addresses pharmacy-related patient care issues through effective communication with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Supervises pediatric clinical pharmacy personnel, responsible for hiring, coaching, evaluating, and managing staff.

Engages in the professional development of team members through delegation, performance counseling, and timely completion of performance evaluations.

In collaboration with the Medication Safety Manager, the Clinical Pharmacy Manager oversees the medication safety program at The Children's Hospital, integrating safety initiatives with clinical and operational department programs.

Identifies opportunities for proactive enhancements in the medication-use system to improve clinical effectiveness, operational efficiency, and patient safety.

Additional Responsibilities:
Performs other assigned duties as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Graduation from an accredited pharmacy degree program.
Completion of a PGY1 ASHP-accredited residency program is required.
Completion of a PGY2 ASHP-accredited residency program with a focus on pediatrics is preferred.

Experience:
3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in a pharmacy environment is required. Experience in pediatrics is preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
Required:
Licensed as a Doctor of Pharmacy (D.Ph.) by the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy.

If licensed in another state, must obtain licensure from the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of employment.

Certification as a preceptor by the Oklahoma Board of Pharmacy when eligible.
Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) is preferred, with a pediatric specialty preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Understanding of current pharmacy-related regulations, best practices, and standards.
Knowledge in one or more clinical service areas. Supervisory capabilities. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in management skills including planning, controlling, coordinating, and evaluating departmental activities.
