Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Inpatient Psychiatry Mental Health Technician to join our team at the University of Virginia Health System. As a key member of our inpatient psychiatric unit, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.
  • Assist professional healthcare staff with patient procedures, including orientation and development of new Patient Care Assistants.
  • Contribute to the professional development of others, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Perform unit support activities as needed, including administrative tasks and maintenance of a clean and organized work environment.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent; Associate's degree in psychology, social sciences, or humanities preferred.
  • Documented proof of 4 years of experience caring for patients in an inpatient psychiatric setting, a Community Service Board, or equivalent as a direct care provider.
  • Current active CNA certification through the Virginia Board of Nursing or AAPT Certification.
  • BLS certification required.
Physical Demands

The job requires frequent bending, stooping, and traveling. The successful candidate must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
